Sometimes planning a wedding can get all a bit stressful. After all, what with the guest list, the dress, the suits, the venue, the photography, the food and the entertainment… It’s no wonder that some couples just up it and leave – deciding that eloping is a far more sensible and fun alternative.
And who are we to argue? I mean, imagine if you could jet away, get married – do half the planning and pay half the money – but still have the best day of your life, and still be married to the person you love. Well that’s the reasoning behind this couples choice to jet away to the beautiful Bora Bora – a glorious tropical island, that is not only picturesque but perfect weather-wise and seeped in culture and beauty.
So what kind of things do you need to know if you’re planning a beach wedding?
Well first thing is first, you need to decide where you’re actually going to get married! There are loads of beautiful resorts out there which would be amazing for weddings – all around the world. Below are some beautiful places that are our favourite here at 365 HQ:
- Phuket in Thailand
- Bora Bora (of course!)
- Dubai
- Greece Islands
- California
- Noosa in Australia
Of course, there are many other beaches out there too! It all depends on how close you want the resort to be, how remote you want it t be and the kind of weather you enjoy the most. There are a few other steps involved though, when planning your beach wedding, and a few other really important things you’ll need to remember. For example, have a think about visas, and flight costs – as these could add a lot to the budget of your big day. You’ll also need to think about witnesses and guests too – and how many guests you want present at your wedding. If the flights are expensive – or if your destination is far away, this may cut down your guest list a little too much – after all you want those special people present.
You’ll also need to think about your dress and suits, etc. Are you going to buy them out there or will you be shipping them (or flying them) over with you? All these things need planning – and although the planning may not be as hard-core as traditional wedding-planning, it still needs doing to make sure your day goes smoothly!
Anyway – back to more beautiful photographs!
I love the above photo! So adorable! If you were wondering who took these stunning photos it is Helen H who is exclusively the very best wedding photographer in Bora Bora (as we’re sure you’ll agree). You can find her website here.
Don’t forget to treat yourselves on your wedding day too, even if you’re heading away to tie the knot. Just because you’re abroad doesn’t mean your day shouldn’t be filled with romance and gorgeousness. Book a romantic beachside dinner like this couple did and make sure it’s everything you’d ever hoped for! And don’t forget to order the honeymoon suite too!

I love this wedding. We’re getting married in spain (not as tropical) but hoping my wedding photos are this good! x
I love it too! How gorgeous are the colours and mountains? Starting to think my English Church wedding is a bit unadventurous!
I want those earrings. seriously amazing.
I love her wedding dress! It looks so elegant yet not over-the-top.Makes me wanna get married right now.
LOL
Are beach weddings like this really half as expensive? Currently early stage of planning (figuring a budget) and its going to be 20 ish thousand, and my future hubby would easily be talked into it. B each weddings seem so peaceful and less stressful.
We think so – Although it really depends on how expensive your flights are (as they will be the biggest expense). In terms of the reception costs though, catering and venue – it’s definitely going to be much cheaper. If you go for a hotel package like this couple did – you’re look at £3000 for the venue, ceremony, evening meal and guest meals (should you have guests) and honeymoon suite for the night. So lots cheaper. But then – you’d be paying for flights too and your dress – which could add up to around £6000? But still, that’s a lot cheaper!
Hope I helped!
Really liked what you had to say in your post, the beautiful bora bora bride #59 | 365brides, thanks for the good read!
